Food And Beverage Analysis Essay

Food and Beverage Analysis I was asked to track 9 days of my meals throughout this semester to view my caloric, fat, and other eating habits. These 9 days were spaced out into 3 consistent days every two weeks, using different days of the week. This was to find trends, deficiencies, or habits among the way I eat. The base line was used with my weight, activity, BMR, age, gender, and height. The following is a good analysis is a good representation of my eating habits and how I should improve them.
Over the first 3-day period, my average caloric intake was 1,910 calories. Based on my basal metabolic rate, 1,503 calories, I was over by 398 calories. Of these 398 calories, 128 of them were due to added sugars, which was still within my limit of 150 calories for sugars. Saturated fats added 256

The limit for saturated fats was also 150 calories, putting me almost twice my limit. In order to have a better understanding of the overview of these three days, I must take into consideration that I was still in my sophomore year of high school, thus eating only what was available to me. Under the food category of oils, I was over my target by 1 teaspoon. Looking at my day-to-day ratio, I was over my target by 4 teaspoons, being attributed by the caesar salad and salad dressing. Day two, I had a 2-5 ration, where I was under. On day 3, I was 1 teaspoon over, being possibly attributed to the oil in the mayonnaise of the BLT, which I did not eat. The mayonnaise put me over my target for oils, which if it was not added, I would have been in the ‘OK’ range. Under the category of proteins, I was under my target by 1.5 ounces. On day 1, I was on target where as on days 2 and 3, I was below average. This can be attributed to the fact that only on day 1 did I eat lunch and dinner. However, although my iron was low due to a lack of protein in my diet, I had a consistent amount of iron. To raise my amount of

Michael Pollan’s novel, “In Defense of Food”, is a follow-up to his prior novel, “The Omnivore’s Dilemma”. The book is explaining the issue with the food industry in America, but does not explain how you can change the way you eat. This is where the novel of “In Defense of Food” comes in. He starts out with the seemingly simple phrase of “eat food. Not too much.…

The calculated goal intake for carbohydrates in anywhere in the range of 1134-1639 calories, and my intake was 1087 calories. My value could be low possibly from the fact that I don’t normally eat large entrees that are high in carbohydrate content (i.e. pasta dishes etc) and would rather balance my meals with fruits, vegetables, and some sort of protein source. My other values for protein and fat intake were in range, with protein being more balanced, and my fat intake being on the higher end of the scale. The higher amounts of fats in my diet was alluded to in my calories and fat report, because my fat intake was equating to be 35% of my caloric intake, which is the limit of the range. If my fat intake increases by 68 calories or 7.5 grams, then this will put my intake above the goal range.…
