While enrolled at the Milton Hershey School, I began taking Agricultural Education classes due to their career development education curriculum. The class taught about a variety different agricultural topics and I found my passion in the discussion on veterinary medicine. Since elementary school, I had always wanted to be a veterinarian. Agricultural Education class led to my involvement in FFA and the state 4-H program. I showed Southdown sheep as my project, competed in Farm Show, and worked after school at Milton Hershey's campus barns. Most of my instructors were Penn State grads and frequently took us to the University Park campus. After a behind the scenes tour of the Creamery and the dairy barns, I wanted to come to Penn State. When it became time to apply to Penn State, I knew I wanted to major in Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences. High school had provided a strong background in the sciences, so I figured that the scientific aspect of the major would better suit me. In my AP Calculus class, our teacher had us draft a letterhead and explain to her what we see ourselves doing in 20 years. Laboratory technicians will work side-by-side with us to improve our and diagnostic and research capabilities. This experience will allow me stand out on a veterinary school application and assist in any future laboratory classes I might take. It also provides a global experience involving veterinary medicine that I can apply to a profession. This experience will convince me to eventually work for an organization like "Veterinarians Without Borders" and contribute to global
