This peer reviewed source talks about the production of aluminum. This article talks about the different thickness of aluminum foil and how it can differ. They explain the difference between applications of foils such as: thermal insulations, fin stocks, honeycombs, electrical coils, capacitors, transformers, cable foils, semi-rigid containers, caps, closures, pouches, bags, wraps, peel-off lids, household foils, lithographic plates, decorative products. It also talks about how it is a recyclable material. This source will help me with my presentation because I understand the production and the back ground of how aluminum turns into aluminum foil. They talk about all kinds of materials and ways they are used for packaging. They discuss the ways aluminum is different then aluminum foil showing how diverse it can be. It tells us we can recycle aluminum foil now but foils cannot be made from recycled aluminum without pinhole formation in the thin sheets. This article will be important in writing my paper because it compares aluminum to other packaging that is worse for the environment. The authors of this article both have Ph.D.’s and work for the Research Scientist, Dept. of Science and Technology Projects, Institute of Food Technologists in Washington, D.C., U.S.A. Aluminum production uses 3.5% of global electricity and causes 1% of global CO2 emissions. In the paper they talk about how aluminum goes from a liquid meatal to final product, one of them being aluminum foil. The paper many talks about the environmental effects of aluminum and how much it really effects the environment. This will be helpful in my project because it explains what happens to the aluminum that isn’t used and is recycled. The authors of this paper did experiments and collected data to show there answers and findings a long with references. This shows it is a good academic source and can be trusted. This source really goes in depth with the data collected and makes it easier to
