Flyover Job Analysis

Decent Essays
During the winter of last year I applied for a work experience position at FlyOver Canada. I would consider this my first job, and I learned many things about myself. Being in the IB program sometimes separates me from the others in my grade, my school life revolved around the same group of people and I did not need to make new friends. When working at FlyOver I realized that my communication skills needed to improve. Each day I would set a goal to myself like to not stutter while talking to customers or to sell a certain amount of photos when I worked at the photos department. Slowly I gained confidence, this experience has helped me in school while I present projects in front of a class and also helped me receive a job at the PNE, where

The first couple of months of school were quite challenging as I was trying to handle the workload and learn the language. Although I spoke some English upon arrival to the country, my language skills were certainly nowhere near what one might consider college adequate. However, it was not the language barrier that was of utmost concern. Shortly before I moved to the country, my father became strangely ill. By the time I started attending college his health was still not improving, and no doctor was able to diagnose him correctly.…

After coming out of high school I got into college with my mind not being set on a carrier, something common in resent graduates. By that time, my mom was working for a hospital; she thought it would be a good idea if I studied to become a Respiratory Therapist. Not a bad idea if one doesn’t mind dealing with the worst cases in the hospital; it’s a career that has great benefits, and a decent wage. Fast forward three semesters into my college years, and I was still not convinced if I truly wanted that type of career for the rest of my life, so I decided to drop out of college and start my own business. At that time I was working for a construction company that mainly focused on parking-lot maintenance, which I had been working for the last…

I originally applied for the receptionist position at Great Clips, at the recommendation of my former stylist, who worked for the salon. I knew that it would be a great way to earn some hands on experience in a salon, before and while attending cosmetology school. However I didn't realize how much I would benefit from the position. Not only did I have the chance to gain customer service experience, I had the opportunity to observe everything from haircuts, styles, and perms. Working in a salon has increased my passion for cosmetology and has helped me gain experience that will hopefully lead to a stylist position at Great Clips in the near future.…

Given that none of these drugs ever made me feel less depressed or less anxious. If anything they made my anxiety worse because it was harder for me to play the role of a “human” I would not respond to things the correct way or slowly and felt like more of a freak and that I never fit in anywhere. It also got my mother angry with me at Christmas when I never seemed to show the correct emotion for receiving a gift or gratefulness I was flat emotionally on all of these drugs. I never liked talking to people and have never felt joy in doing anything that involves people. I like animals and hearing the warm summer wind blowing through the trees and tall grasses, with the birds in background.…

David Starkey’s lecture on the 1215 Magna Carta started my interest for law. The Laws of the Magna Carta very much affected the people of 1215 whether that be the barons or the monarch himself, and the same can be said in today’s society, that the law affects everyone. Henceforth, my chosen area of which I would like to study is law. In a world of change, I believe that is important for laws to be changed and for new laws to be introduced so that they reflect the concerns and ideas of the current civilisation. Personally, I conscientiously keep up to date with current issues and affairs because I think it is imperative to know about this and how it affects not only you but everyone else.…

Over the course of my working life, I have obtained two jobs; my first job, at Panera Bread and my current job, at the YMCA. Within these two jobs, I have noticed many similarities and differences. Each job has given me the opportunity to meet and interact with people daily, however, the daily interactions did have their differences. Each job also gave me the ability to gain responsibly and knowledge within a field of work, providing me with the ability to learn how to be the best worker I can be. The overall best aspect of working these two jobs were the friendships I gained in the process, although The Y has provided me with friendships far deeper than Panera Bread, I still gained acquaintances and friendships at Panera Bread.…

Back to high school days-when I had to do speeches, the difficult part was when you have to stand up and speak loud. At first, I was a very shy person, and my speeches were so bad because I used to get scared, especially when I used to stand up in front of all the class; most of my speeches went like that. However, we had a speech where you have to talk about twenty-two minutes and stand up in front of all the students. This exemplifies that I have to work hard in order to be good at doing the presentation.…
