On March 9, I went visited the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts to see The Flying Lovers of Vitebsk. The play was directed by Emma rice and written by Daniel Jamieson. The producing body included assistant director Keziah Serreau, choreography by Emma rice & Etta Murfitt, designed by Sophia Clist, lighting design by Malcolm Rippeth, sound design by Simon Baker, and composed/music directed by Ian Ross. I have never been to a play before this one. Flyers Lovers of Vitebsk was absolutely amazing. I love a good comedy, musical, sad, and romantic storyline and this play had it all. It was very imaginative and required quite a lot of it to understand it. The story line was creative and never had a single dull moment. For my first time seeing a play, I was so fascinated by it and really enjoyed it. It was such a surreal and magical experience. The time setting of the story is what made the story unique.

The two main characters in the play are supposed to have a chemistry together. It’s also important that the audience can feel and connect to their chemistry. This story takes place in the 19th century. The play tells a story about a painter names Marc Chagall and his wife, a writer named Bella Rosenfeld who were born in jewish community in Vitebsk. The two fall in love but marc moved to paris for 3 years. He moves to paris to make a fortune as a painter. When he moves to Vitebsk with intentions to marry Bella, there is a war going on. Their daughter Ida is born the freezing wartime. Their love story end in New york state where Bella dies during the second world war from suffering of streptococcal and going into a coma. I think that this play really explores and goes into what it means to love somebody and seeing the same things through different

    The audience had a genuine laughter from jokes and puns made on stage, cheer and clap at musical performances, which resulted in gleeful reactions to the play and after speaking to others who have also seen the play, many audience members were impressed. Peter and the Starcatcher was appealing, inspiring and adventurous, which left people coming back and seeing the show many times.
