My animal is a gray headed flying fox. It is a bat but is called a grey headed flying fox because, it looks like a fox with a gray head and it can fly. It is found along Australia's east coast from Rockhampton, Queensland in the north to Melbourne, Victoria in the south. It is called a megabat or (Megachiroptera) they are mammals which means animals that feed their young on milk. They like to “camp out” in trees, eucalypt forests and rainforests. Or in sclerophyll vegetation usually near water or in mangroves and will often share their camp with bat species like the black flying-fox and little red flying-fox.

Bats are the only mammal that actually flies. There is 7 species of flying foxes in Australia. The grey headed flying fox is Australia's
