In the experiment, I tested how soapy water would affect the amount of droplets the penny can hold. The results of my experiment show that the penny holds less droplets of soap water. When the soap is added to the water, the soap collides with water breaking down the tension. As a result, it harder for the droplets to hold together. To find whether my hypothesis was right, I did several of trials to figure out whether my hypothesis was correct.…

While discussing loose equipment for an emergency apparatus purchase for the Waco Fire Department Chief Tatum advised the equipment committee that the department will replace our 1 ½” pre-connect line with 2” pre-connect line. Research was conducted by committee members to find the most appropriate hose and nozzle combination that will be the best fit for the Waco Fire Department. Some of the best information we gathered was during an inspections trip to Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton, Wi. During this trip, we spoke with members of several departments from the Kinston and Cary, North Carolina and Salem New Hampshire, these departments recently added 2” pre-connects to their arsenal. Most importantly information was shared in regards to the evaluation and the need to find the perfect combination of hose and nozzle to garner the gallons per minute from the two-inch hose line, since the purpose of the increase in size from 1 ¾ “hose to 2” is for the increase in gallons per minute.…

The forward osmosis (FO) process is an emerging separation/desalination process. It is rapid process compared to other membrane processes such as reverse osmosis. The physical phenomenon of forward osmosis (FO) can demonstrated as the motion of water molecules through a semi-permeable membrane due to difference in osmotic pressure driving force through the membrane. The membrane enables only water molecules to pass through when salt molecules are rejected. The forward desalination technique makes use of a draw solution with high osmotic pressure to draw the water molecules from a inlet solution such as brackish with lower osmotic pressure in contrast to the draw solution.…
