Flu Shot: Intradermal Injection

When the Fall season rolls around, the one thing on everyone’s mind is the Flu shot. The typical route for the Flu shot is intramuscular, which means the needles is inserted into the muscle. However, new technology has been developed to give the injection intradermally, which is injected into the skin, rather than the muscle. This new type of shot has been shown to expand the availability of the vaccine and use a smaller needle for injection, causing more Flu shots available to administer and less painful effects from the injection. When getting the next Flu shot, consider the possibility of an intradermal option.
