"You were sprinting, and not paying attention to what had been in front of you." He paused.
"You ran into me, knocking you out cold. I got to those things that were after you, those monsters." The man stepped out of the bathroom. He wore a long, white lab coat, with a black t-shirt and ripped jeans. He looked like he hasn't slept in weeks.

Where's your family? Friends?" Zack shrugged. He sat there for a moment replaying the moment when he lost all of them. "Don't know. I was with them one minute, and then the next, I wasn't." Zack sighed as Nic walked over to the bed and sat down.
"They could be dead for all I know." A tear ran down Zack's cheek. Zack has been on his own for the past month.
"Hey. It's okay. I can't tell you that you'll find them, because I don't know, but you're safe. That's all that matters."
Zack gives a half smile. Nic stands up, "I'm going to get you something to eat, you need your strength." Nic pats Zack's back and walks into the kitchen. On any other occasion Nic would have left a person for dead. But he just could not, under any circumstance, bring himself to leave Zack. He felt so drawn to him, something Nic has never experienced before. He had to take the boy in. Nic watched as Zack ate, no words had been spoken. Once Zack finished up, Nic grabbed his plate and took it into the Kitchen.
“Get some rest, boy. We have a busy day tomorrow,” Nic shouted from the other room. Zack didn’t reply, instead he just made his way back to the bed he woke up in.
