This episode begins with a brief fight scene between Tyreese and Rick over who killed Diane and David, which then turns to discussing on how the flu continuing to spread among the community in which they live. The town designs some urgent steps that have to be taken to ensure the well-being of the community. We learn that twelve people died during the attack on the community and those who survived but have the flu are in quarantine. At the meeting, the council eventually agrees that the community needs medical supplies to begin treatment on the sick. Norms are expectations society has about how people behave, and although norms are not considered formal laws, they allow for social control (). The scene that caught my eye the most was when they were discussing who should be the main priority to protect from the flu because of my goal to become a medical doctor. It amazed that still that the value of protect the young and elderly from the “flu” did not change, even through the rest of their society is more “cut throat”(or survival of the fittest) than ours. This shows how much social norms play a role in what we do, even when the situation does not call for it.
Lastly, a sociological aspects that deserves some attention is social order, which is about how people behave in society (). I found it humorous when Jeanette insists that she is not sick and had allergies, but Carol does not believe her. We think that society will fall apart once Apocalypse; however, analyzing season four, episode three of The Walking Dead tell us otherwise. We see how many social norms, values, institutions, and orders are upheld, some even subconsciously like people lining up. Furthermore, the Walking Dead illustrates what constitutes a society will be answered.
