Flowers of Algernon is a short story by Daniel Keyes A 37 year old man who is mentally disabled and he wants to be smart so more people will like him, so he can have more friends.Charlie Gordon was better off after the surgery because the people who used to make fun of him now stood up for him and even though Charlie wasn’t smart anymore it was a good experience to have.
The Surgery was still a good experience for Charlie Gordon because he got to feel what it’s like to be intelligent even though in the end he wasn’t smart anymore. Before the surgery Charlie would spell bad and after the surgery Charlie could spell a lot better for a short amount of time but it shows that he was smart
