It gives them a better understanding of how the person feel,and his/her inner thoughts. At the beginning of the story, Charlie could not understand what was going on around him. He was just another student in Miss Kinnian’s class, that was mentally retarded. “They were all around in a circle watching and laughing at the way we were doing the steps. they laughed harder every time I fell, and I was laughing too because it was so funny, But the last time it happened I didn’t laugh. At the convention in Chicago Charlie gets upset with Dr.Strauss and Nemur because they do not know how to read Hindu. “To hear him admit that both of them were ignorant of whole areas in their own fields was terrifying.
