Flowers For Algernon Comparison

Decent Essays
The story Flowers for Algernon has both similarities and differences with the film version Charly, such as the setting, the scenes in the book and movie, and some of the characters. The settings caught my attention because when I read the book and watched the movie it was different. It was different because Charlie´s work in the book was a box company and in the movie it was a bread company, I noticed this right away when I had seen charly sweeping the floor and all the bread was behind him. Another one is Charlie´s apartment this is different because Charlie never had a neighbor in the book and in the movie he has a neighbor, I like when Charlie has a neighbor so he won't be alone by himself like in the book. The scenes caught my attention

While the book and movie have many similarities and differences, the Book was more effective in telling the story.…

In the stories Romeo And Juliet and Flowers For Algernon, one thing I struggled to do was find a common theme. It took me almost an hour, but after close examination I realized one huge common theme I seemed to be blatantly ignoring. That theme was that relationships with others, both with humans and animals, are bound to end. There is many different ways the authors showed these themes in their story, but the ways I will be focusing on is through foreshadowing in the storyline, stereotyping and generalization from both the authors and characters, and the conflict that the characters in the story face throughout their lives.…
