When Mrs. Kinnian was reading Charlie’s progress report, she read the part when his “friends” from the factory got him drunk and started making fun of him and then she said he got something in her eye and ran to the bathroom, when she really started to cry. This shows that his “Friends” from the factory were never his friends and they just used Charlie as a toy to make fun of him. And when he realized that they were never his friends he was ashamed of himself.
