Flowers For Algernon Analysis

Improved Essays
Do schools treat less intelligent students differently? Sadly the truth is, yes, less intelligent students are treated differently. The less intelligent students tend to usually be treated worse because others think they are putting in less effort and hard work. For example, in Flowers For Algernon, Charlie is treated poorly, because of his slowness, by majority of the people around him. His teachers treat him poorly because they assume he could be working harder than he is, and his friends treat him poorly by taking advantage of him. However, this method could be all right since it encourages the less intelligent students to improve so they can’t be treated poorly. Of course, from an ethical standpoint, favoritism is never the right answer.

No two students will learn the same, act the same, or think the same. I shouldn’t say or have the mindset that one student is more “normal” than other just because of their grade or actions, and I want to be able to practice this in my classroom, teaching my student’s the same way. Especially for students with disabilities, we shouldn’t define them as “different” or “unable” just because of this label. This doesn’t change my teaching philosophy that all students should have the opportunity to leave better than they came- it only enhances it.…

As they say, everyone is different, no two people are the same, but just because someone is different to you or others around them it doesn’t make them any less worthy. Everybody has the right to equality and this should be applied throughout, and not just in schools and colleges. The children I support are all different and they all have their own individual needs and ways of learning. I always work to accommodate their needs without embarrassing them or making them stand out to others. There are frameworks in place within school to support children and young people who may have additional needs when accessing the curriculum.…

Lilies of the field was a faith filled adapted play written by William E Barrett. This being the first play I’ve ever attended, I had little to no knowledge of what to expect, nor did I know where this department was located. When seeing this play I took into consideration, setting, actors, costumes, lights, music, how well the actors verbalized their lines, what story was trying to be told, and what the deeper message was within this story. Lilies of the field is set on a farm in the Arizona dessert, a large board was painted to portray the scene.…
