There are many different kinds of rehabilitation centers. Florida Movement Therapy Center for one is quite different than the average rehabilitation centers. Although, the focus to give people the best quality of life and care is still the same, Florida Movement Therapy approaches therapy in a different way. They use integrated plan of centralized retraining, core based exercises and functionally based activities in order to get people moving again. The physical environment looks much like a gym with equipments including but not limited to, weights, yoga mats, total gym machines, battle ropes, GIGER MD, and ballet barre used for assistance with balance and stability exercises. His primary condition is a T1 spinal cord injury due to a removal of a tumor. His secondary conditions include unspecified injuries between T2 and T6. The client suffers from muscle weakness, LE weakness, has difficult with transfers, and complains of constant pain. Between OT and PT the client has had 94 therapy sessions. Some performance skills prominently affected are his motor skills for example when he bends, reaches, and moves. Some occupations that are affected by these performance skill deficits include, functional mobility, toileting, dressing, and meal clean up are naming a few. The clients current level of performance in self-care, work, leisure, and play is suggested to be stand by assist (SBA). Stuart’s psychosocial impact is very positive; he understands his disability better than anyone taking care of him. He knows his dos and don’ts, he is optimistic to go to therapy regardless of feeling a lot of pain, he accepts his mistakes, and he takes care of himself. He described during therapy about getting into an accident over the weekend, and stated that he shouldn’t have been driving as he was very tired.

You have several staff members including but not limited to, Lori Worley PTA, Savannah Keener (PT DPT), Odia Richie (PT MPT), Derek Wiston (COTA/L), Kaitlyn Brown (OTR/L), Ed Gray (OTR/L), and the secretary staff.
