H-O-M-E-C-O-M-I-N-G! Homecoming is the time where current students get to experience their school in a new way, and where alumni are invited back to reminisce. This year, beginning from October 11-17. 2015, Florida A&M University proudly celebrates homecoming week. The homecoming festivities began Sunday with the Homecoming Kick-Off Worship Service and ended with the Gospel Concert, Saturday night. During the week days, there were many events happening on and off campus. The housing step show was hosted in Gaither Gym on Monday. I attended the event with a friend and really enjoyed watching everyone come together to represent their dorm. Stephane from our SLS class was a part of the step show and she did great. On Tuesday and Wednesday

Summary of Activities Outside of our meeting on Sunday October 8th, I spent an hour looking up registration letters online, just to see what other examples are available. I was amazed at how many different registration styles there were. I coordinated with my classmates on clip art for the registration letter and downloaded the sample my professor uploaded for us. I completed the letter and I believe it’s perfect. I can’t wait for everyone to see it also.…

It is that time of the semester, the Org Fair! Even though it is not as much fun as the Fall Org Fair, it is still an important day in the semester. It gives the opportunity of recruitment for the clubs on campus. For me, it is quite a busy day. For Dawg Pound, I am trying to promote the final stretch of basketball games as much as possible, as both teams are fighting for a home playoff game.…

The flight to Panama was long and bumping as I flew aboard a C-141, this aircraft is no longer in service. As I departed the aircraft, I was met by oppressive heat and humidity. As I looked around my new surroundings, I could not help but think that it looked as if someone had laid a giant green carpet over the landscape. It was definitely the most beautiful country that I had seen and, in my opinion it still is. The tarmac was busy with all kinds of activity going on.…

A recap on my life: Spring Semester has been very busy, but it has been such a great Wolf ride-this week in particular. So many things have happened recently in my life that I just want to thank everyone who has taken the journey with me! The big highlights of the week include: · Honored as ODK's Top Ten Freshman (Only ten students of the entire Freshman class at UMD recieve this honor) · Selected as an Images Tour Guide! I will now have the opportunity to show perspective students why Maryland is the right fit for them and why I love it so much · Attended Tea with Title IX- as a member of the Title IX Board Student Adivsory Board, I was invited to attend Tea with Title IX where I was able to discuss different policy improvements regarding Title IX on campus (huge shout out to NAN and Taylor for putting on a great event)…

Before I delve deep into the fascinating Toledo vs. Eastern Michigan football game. I just wanted to give you a fair warning that this game happened a long time ago. I just completely forgot to write my karma points on the game. Now, this football game was not just a regular game, it was the homecoming football game. All the activities that occurred this week led up to this one game, and I was determined to attend the game.…

Well it has been almost 4 months that I have been attending Roanoke Valley Early College. I love it here and I don’t see how anyone couldn’t. So far I have learned a lot about school. By taking time to observe my surroundings and everyone around me, I have learned that everyone in high school is not your friend and that I am learning how to sense a bad vibe before I let anyone get too close to me. RVEC is the only school that has taught me that all teachers are not these people that hate their job because the teachers here including the ones I don’t take yet are always showing us that they really want to be there and help us and teach us.…

The only community event I have had the opportunity to attend so far was the Front Porch Gathering regarding immigration in our community, specifically about DACA recipients. The event began by a representative of the LCCE introducing two DACA recipients who shared their stories about how DACA has given them opportunities that were once unimaginable. It helped set the scene for how impactful DACA is in the lives our youth in our community. At that point, it was no longer just a piece of obscure government legislation that we hear about on the news; it was living and breathing in front of our very eyes. Even though DACA has never affected me or anyone in my family or friend circle, it now felt personal.…

What one Homecoming activity would you improve or change and why? Improvement is something that everything and everyone can undergo, as nothing is perfect. However there is an old saying “if it isn’t broke then don’t fix it’. I feel that this statement is very relatable to homecoming at Oklahoma State University. Every year it seems that we provide an incredible experience for thousands of people through a multitude of events.…

This week my push category goal was to meet new people and to explore the Full sail campus. I would say that meeting my goal of meeting new people has been gone really well, the people are really nice and are open to meeting new people it is great. And exploring the campus has been fun weather it is just walking around with friends or on a tour. The biggest challenge this week would have to be trying to find time for this online work and orientation at the same time. But the reason I that I think it was so hard was because I didn’t have the wifi for the campus for like 3 days of this week…

On a sweltering summer day in the City of Atlanta or the “ATL” as it is affectionately known today, I visited my best friend while he visited his father for the summer. That day I remember vividly because as soon as we stepped outside of the airport to take the “MARTA” train, I began to sweat profusely. Anyone that has been to Atlanta during the summer knows it is incredibly humid there. A week earlier I had seen my friend, and we planned out what we were going to do that week I visited. I knew I wanted to visit Spellman College, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, and Morris Brown College, but before I could visit the Atlanta University Center or the “AUC” as it is called to the locals, I felt compelled to visit the grave site of one of the most influential human being to walk this earth.…

The experience that I would use to display all of these personal qualities would be my first semester at Miami University. I chose this experience because it has taught me to become comfortable within the uncomfortable and create an environment where I am able to adapt quickly to my surroundings. My first semester at college has made me become more independent, willing to push outside of my comfort zones, open-minded, and able to persevere through isolation. Throughout my first semester at Miami University, I’ve learned to become more independent, through most of the daily responsibilities that I hold.…
