Later in the film we see Flamo again and he proudly explains that he helped mediate a conflict fright in front of his house, without even knowing it. By doing that he was being an active member in deceasing the violence around him, and introducing a new style of conflict resolution to others. It starts when enough people finally decide there is an epidemic of sorts; the belief that too many innocent community members are being affected. However, the work must come from the top. They explain that engaging community leaders, traditional or not, is the first step. For example, in “The Interrupters” we see some political leaders, but mainly we see leaders from the streets. Ex gang leaders, community volunteers, these are all relatable leaders to the audience. Once those leaders have made public strides against the violence, more are to follow. In all, the large goal is to no longer make violence a community norm. This takes years of breaking learned behavior. Therefore it is important to spread these changes from young community members
