Flipped Classroom Strategy

In all honesty, I did not know what a flipped classroom strategy was, until I read the reading materials for module 3. After reading the materials, I loved the strategy. However, there are a few drawbacks because if you want to incorporate technology (ex. internet resources) not all students may have this resource. However, I enjoyed creating my recording. Since it’s a flipped classroom, a teacher will give her lesson/lecture as homework, while the traditional homework assignment is completed in class with the assistance of the teacher. The readings gave me some helpful ideas that I took into consideration, when I constructed my audio presentation. I made sure my audio information was clear and easy to understand. The images I provided were

After presenting and completing my visual informative speech, there were several strengths and weaknesses present throughout my speech. Some of my strengths, with respect to the content of the speech as I did my visual presentation, was that I did a good job with the introduction. The introduction involved introducing my topic and grabbing the attention of my audience. Also, I had great supporting materials and most importantly great organization of my main points. As for the delivery aspect of my speech, according to the video, I had a good posture and used my flash cards very well, which were very helpful in delivering my speech.…

Then they got pulled out in groups to complete the “one Minute” baby challenge. This challenge required the students to stop the baby from crying in one minute. Interventions Strategies: In order to provide the child with the proper support parents, teachers and the educational team need to come up with strategies that will be consistent with the children’s learning. In addition, the different accommodation/modification are depending on the need of each child. “Teachers, therefore should make assignments, instruct, evaluate students, and carry out other class procedures on the basis of what they can determine about their students’ learning styles and the emotional factors contributing to those styles.” (J. Wood P. 395) Not to mention the important thing to do when starting an approach is to understand the objective and see how it can be measured for success.…

A teacher that is willing to adapt the flipped model to the students in their classroom would be much more successful that a teacher that has a set method of teaching and does not adapt. Jonathan Bergmann and Aaron Sams, who are credited with inventing the flipped classroom model, state in their book that “Every teacher who has chosen to flip has done so differently … even though we developed our … class together and are next door … Jonathan’s classroom is different from mine” (Sams 15). In this aspect, the flipped classroom is no different from a traditional model of teaching. The class’s success depends on the teacher’s ability and no model of teaching will change…

I work at a career center, and the students that attend my campus come from the four high schools that are in the district. Our campus focus is on career and technology education, and we offer a wide array of programs. Our 2015/2016 plan includes goals for the entire CTE department and major initiatives for my campus. I will explain the need and rationale for the goals that will contain measurable data, and the principal’s role as a leader in the plan. How can learning strategies help struggling students I think my topic is important because society should care about the future. Not only is my topic very effective for our youth but however it is also effective for our elders, these different learning strategies could really help them out with the struggle of them helping their children or even grandchildren trying to help them with their homework or at home projects. However coming up with different strategies could also be a big help for the students trying to actually learn in school but somehow are distracted or just don’t understand the material the teacher is providing.…

The time comes to do the activity and there are a couple of disruptive students in the class that are making it difficult for the rest of the class. We have all been there! Ionic Bonding Rationale

Rationale I decided to turn this lesson into a flipped lesson as the topic on ionic bonding is something very microscopic and I feel it would help students to develop a more concrete understanding of an abstract topic. By recording the lecture which includes a step-by-step guide on drawing a dot-and-cross diagram, the weaker ones will be able to study at their pace and choose to pause or rewind should they not understand. This helps them to understand the concepts better, as opposed to going slowly in class if it were a traditional classroom setting. Following the flip lesson, the next day, students are able to clarify any doubts and consolidate their learning.…
