The Culture of an organisation represents certain predefined policies which guide the employees and give them a sense of direction at the workplace. Culture in brief means how organisations do things and how employees interact at the workplace.
The organisational culture at Flipkart is very open and relaxed. This is predominantly because of their founders Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal who are in their mid-thirty’s. The founders in order to attract the best talent in the industry created an informal environment. The employees had the opportunity to work not only in the best projects but in the projects of their interest. Flipkart believes that this helps him think long term. If we look at big internet companies, they have defined how commerce ecosystem will shape in the future. Flipkart is also in the same process. The biggest challenge for Flipkart is to take logistics to small towns and villages. Speed of delivery is another major aspect of Flipkarts delivery. In order to achive this third part vendors were done away with, and Flipkart came up with its own delivery system Ekart. With a marketplace model, Flipkart will no longer have an inventory of its own, rather buyers can deal with sellers directly and the delivery will be done by Flipkart. The model will be similar to eBay India.

Going forward, users will be able to compare sellers and get the best prices at varied service levels for most products. Flipkart will also introduce this model to categories like clothes, shoes among others.
