Tom enters with a man that has a lean figure. They both stop and the stranger freezes while Tom addresses the audience.
Tom: Oh boy do we have a lot of catching up to do. It’s been a whole three years since I left New York for California. I left with the intentions of pursuing a writing career and to say the very least things didn’t exactly go to plan. I realized that before I committed to having a permanent job I first wanted to travel like I’d always dreamed of while watching all the hollywood productions. Since I had no attachments in California, it was very easy for me to uproot and go to Australia. I went with little idea on how I was going to make a living, but I quickly got a job as waiter for Lotus Eaters Cafe. Now, this is the part where you just have to bear with me. The sous chef at the cafe, Flinn, quickly became one of my closest friends.

Tom [chuckles]: I know that look, it must mean that you’re up to some trouble.
Flinn: No, I swear you’ll really like it this time.
Tom: What happened to the element of surprise? Have we lost our spark so soon?
[Flinn pulls out a small box and Tom’s eyes widen]
Flinn: Hah, don’t worry, it’s not exactly what you think. Just open it.
[Tom cautiously takes the box from Flinn and slowly opens it, revealing two tickets]
Tom: Thailand? Flinn is this for real? This is actually insane, what were you thinking when you bought these. They’re only one way tickets, are you seriously willing to leave everything you have here? I guess I take back the part where I said you were lacking the element of surprise.
Flinn: Of course this is real, and of course I’m willing to leave. All I need is you with me, it doesn’t really matter where we go.
Tom: It’s weird because I was planning on doing this same kind of thing for your birthday, and I was prepared to say the same thing you just did. I guess it’s true when they say great minds think
