in half and we are stranded in Mississippi. I crawl up on the sandy shore of the Mississippi River Grandpa on the other side with one side of the broken canoe on my side there is the other half on his side. I gather the supplies I have on my side and put it in my High Sierra Backpack that I got two years ago on Christmas day. I get everything gathered up and and start walking down the banks to find a bridge that I can cross. I find a bridge and run down the other side for Grandpa which I found him on the shore. We went to the bridge with the half of the canoe and brought it to the other side. We used the new brand of tape called Flexi Tape we had encase of an emergency in this case it was to get the boat back together. We surprisingly lost no pieces and we …show more content…
We turned around because we only had 4 hours left on the Mississippi River. We lost most of are bait so we have to use this last piece of bait wisely so we cut it into three pieces and put one on the spinner. We lose it after a school of Brook Trout came by and caused a tide and we lost the first third of our last fish. We put the second piece on to get a fish on.
“Fish On number four coming right up,”I yell at Grandpa.
“Good job keep it coming,”he replied back
“Rip,” the line makes a sound of breaking line.
I said, “It broke but luckily I have another spinner,” I said grumpily. I put the new spinner on put the last piece of bait on and say, “Here I go, last piece,” I cast the line as it splashes into the water which the water exploded into the air which had somehow splashed me from 20 to 30 feet away. I can only hope to reach my goal of catching the biggest fish. They last recorded it had was a Flat Head Catfish at 60 pounds in 2012 which means it would have grown a lot by now probably 80-90 pounds in my opinion.
I listen as the line goes “ernn”
I pick my line and say “it's a big one and it's not no

They did this by using snag boats that used tackles to get the snags off of the bottom of the river. After they removed them from the river they would cut them up. These operations were important to improving navigation of the Mississippi River. Another way that they tried to improve navigation on the Mississippi was by creating artificial cut offs. These cut offs shortened the river by a total of twenty three…

The Bitterroot River flows from South to North, and can be very high in the Summer. My father, Cory, told me stories as a child about how he and my grandfather used to go fishing on the Bitterroot almost everyday in the Summer time. As I listened to these stories, I couldn’t imagine the patience and skill my father had to endure while learning these techniques. At the age of seven, I was taught how to tie up a line, cast, and just wait for that perfect fish to bite.…

Eventually, “I reached down for the rod, hesitated, looked up to where Sheila was stretching herself lazily toward the sky, her small breasts rising beneath the soft fabric of her dress, and the tug was too much for me, and quicker than it takes to write down, I pulled a penknife from my pocket and cut the line in half.” Even though the boy loves fishing and desire to catch the bass, he still choose to cut a fishing line which mean for him Sheila is over the bass. “Twenty yards ahead of us was the road, and once I pulled the canoe up on shore, the bass would…

Then we ran into a tall oak tree. That’s when dad told me to run to the house next to us. I was about to run, only to see a branch from the oak tree fly off and swipe dad from his feet making him roll down the side of the house. I jumped and grabbed his hand hanging over the ledge of our house tilting sideways on a half broken oak tree. I tried to pull him up but he was too heavy.…

Retriever Reels for Bowfishing Bowfishing differs from bow hunting on land in a number of ways, which explains the need for specialized equipment – not least of which is the retriever reel, a spool of tough fishing line that is used to connect the arrow to a float. These lines may be immensely tough – for example, those used in hunting alligators may have a weight rating of six-hundred forty pounds or more. Heavier types are also used for alligator gars, whose sharp-edged, armored scales will slice through thinner lines and cause you to lose both your arrow and your fish. Where a line on a land-hunting arrow would be an immense hindrance – snagging on branches and accomplishing nothing useful for the hunter – a line is absolutely necessary in bowfishing, since there is no other way to retrieve your fish unless your shot happens to kill it instantly.…

Boating down the Wabash River near Lafayette on July 16, I witnessed firsthand the broad, winding river’s scenic beauty, but also got a lesson in the environmental challenges the river faces when two Asian carp hurled themselves out of the water and landed in our boat. The Wabash is Indiana’s iconic river and inspiration for our state song, yet in recent years two species of invasive Asian carp have infested portions of it. These voracious non-native fish consume nutrients in the water, disrupting the food chain and threatening the native fish enjoyed by Hoosier anglers and sportsmen. At the sound of outboard motors, groups of Asian carp will jump out of the water and can injure boaters.…

My family and I started out the weekend by going fishing. We fished many hours and we hooked into some nice crappies. Our family’s seasonal camper on Lake Shamineau is where we spent most of our time fishing. Routinely spotted were large northern pike and muskies all while looking for schools of crappies and walleyes. Quietly trolling for walleyes, I happened to snag a small fishing rod.…

The Chattahoochee River, Georgia’s most heavily-used water source, is home to a variety of fish and a supplier of over 70% of the drinking water in metro Atlanta; it was also ranked number three on America’s ‘most endangered’ list. Each day, more than 250 million gallons of sewage waste water is dumped in to river, so news that the river is constantly contaminated with E. coli is no surprise. Even with the vast amount of contamination, Georgia allows the dumping of waste to continue; they give out permits to dump in the waters. Without proper laws and regulations, the continued dumping of waste on the Chattahoochee River will eventually cause it to become too contaminated for human use and wildlife survival. The Chattahoochee River begins in the northeast of Georgia and continues down 524 miles to Apalachicola Bay, Florida.…

It was a crisp sunny morning, peering out the kitchen window I could see Blackbirds perched on frosty roof tiles, these were accompanied by steam being vented with regularity from the neighbours central heating, it was the first proper winters day we have had. The multitude of different mugs rattled away as I hastily liquidised a loaf of bread before setting about to tinker with my cheese paste mixture. The rivers were likely to still be coloured and I wanted to try and create a slight clouding effect, so whilst mixing a new batch of the blue krill paste I included a liberal helping of powdered milk, the idea being that this would leak off a creamy textured cloud and prove alluring to any inquisitive chub. A healthy flask of coffee was soon stashed away and I was eventually ready to make my way to the riverbank for a mornings chub searching. It was brilliantly sunny and it did not take long for the rod blank and eyes to start freezing up at regular intervals.…

In “The Deep River”, there is a dividing among the culture and people in Africa. The people all lived together as a deep river because of how close and secluded they were as people. In the beginning of the story, it says that the chief was the face for all the people, and they were called the people of Monemapee. However, the people from the Talaote tribe had forgotten their origins and language due to their migration southwards. The conflict and splitting of culture happened in the deep river where the Monemapee people resided.…
