The egg is this case represents the hope in the form of Flex Mentallo who is actually ordering two of them. The white egg shell once broken releases the egg into the dish, the yolk is characterized as being yellow just like the image on the 3rd panel of the first page. The cracking of the egg is like the formation of a new galaxy as shows a start of a new adventure. In addition to this Flex mentallo likes his egg cooked with runny whites which can flow freely just like the portrayal of the hat of the fact in Panel 1 of the same page. The idea of the fact being free any constraints and having free-will is seen in this case. The egg epitomizes a very important point Flex Mentallo is the yolk that brings all this hope for a better world and try’s to find the fact who can be the runny whites. The fact is always evading being caught by Flex but is always part of the narrative and is responsible for the all the events that occur. As the novel progresses, we see more and more certainties being destroyed. Firstly, when Flex receives the fact card form the inspector and proclaims it is impossible because he believes that he was the only character that was actually brought to life by Wally Sage. This has a huge effect on the whole story as it drives the narrative as the only reason that Flex is pursuing the Fact. Additionally, in issue 3 page 8, the hoaxer speaks to the lieutenant referring to everything as a hoax, although he is referring to the idea that the jail cell they are in has been transformed into something that it is not. This really demonstrates a recurring theme throughout the novel about how everything is not as it seems and that fake bombs have destroyed the certainties that were once were thought as reality. Lastly on page 16 of the first issue, we have people on the street asking if there is anyone that can save the world as Flex walks by, this is odd situation because the world already knows that Flex is a superhero but the bombs have affected this certainty as they start to question his presence.
