About two hundred and fifty years ago, the American colonist were on the way to becoming its own, in revolutionizing it. Our president Thomas Jefferson, one of our founding fathers, composed a document that made America called The Declaration of Independence. This document came in response to the tyranny of English rule. It declared the goals of equality for all men, end to high taxes on colonists, an end to English rule, and why the American colonist should separate from England. The colonist wanted to form their own nation and government to get away from the awful things that the king had done to the colonists. Some huge influencers in this document were John Locke and Rousseau. Jefferson's pleas for dependence were strongly on Locke's theory of common rights. He thought the British government didn’t want to give the rights of freedom to the colonist. For example, "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" (Declaration of Independence). All men have the privilege to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. It just indicates that we have a privilege to seek after the things in life that will bring us euphoria, inside the lawful casing work of law. If someone interfere with the law then each of the three things can be taken away. You cannot hurt or murder somebody by doing as such you are intruding upon people’s rights. The thought was not one of Jefferson's but rather of John Locke. Moreover, individuals who lived in Britain were allowed to vote for Parliament, however American pilgrims were not able to. This messed up Locke's hypothesis of equality and freedom. Furthermore, he guaranteed, "All men are made equal" (Declaration of Independence). What he meant by that line when the Declaration of Independence was composed, the expression "men" alluded just to the individuals who could be land owners which implied just white men. The term excluded anybody of any color other than white and in addition women as well. Along these lines the 'establishing fathers' were racist
