Flashguide Reflection

Looking back on my first year as a Flashguide for DKS, the greatest lesson I learned was humility. Growing up in a smaller town, I always found myself standing out. Let it be academics or extracurriculars, I was a force to reckon with. With that mindset, I found myself afraid to let others take the lead, having a mindset that I would and could take this challenge and finish it on my own better than others could. When working with my team last summer, I learned the advantages of recognizing self-strength in yourself and in others. Once being able to identify my own strengths and weakness, I was able to look unto my team members who had strengths to make up where I lack and provide a hand when my strengths were a challenge. I learned to trust and apricate all that different members bring to a team, and this lesson has forever changed me. When looking at my purpose in my life, I have found from my Flashguide experience that my passion is to promote and inspire those around me. I think of the opportunity I would have to help and inspire my fellow teammates if given the opportunity to work as a Flashguide for a second year. Not only would I be able to help the students but be the positive voice to help those who are having rough paths, which are normal for a demanding job like this. During the difficulties, it is important to have a voice behind you reminding you that you are going to make it through this rough patch and help you get back into your grove. Knowing my impact I can make by simply reminding someone how amazing and unique they are, let it be something as small as noticing the extra effort in appearance to something as large as reminding them of how beautiful their energy they give off truly
