Natural Disaster: Flash Floods

When making a contingency plan for your business your main priority are your employees, customers and the community. This is why as we come up with the contingency plan our workers will be informed and trained to deal with floods in the area. As a company we must also partner up with other businesses and see how we can help better the preparations for flood in the community. Because if there isn't any customers there isn't a business.
Statistics:
• About 75% flood related deaths in Texas usually occurs in automobiles. During night time and heavy storms it’s extremely difficult to see that the road is flooded.

• Because there are so many floods here, our area is nicknamed Flash Flood Alley.
• Texas is prone to extremely heavy rains and flooding. Half the world record rainfalls (48 hours or less) happened here.
• Texas is the state with the most flood/flash flood deaths in the past 36 years.
• Texas has been ranked number 1 in deaths 21 out of 36 years.
• Total deaths are double the total for the second-highest state, California
Before the flood
The Community Side:
As the group of businesses around the area we have decided on how to help the community to prepare for floods. The community will have health and safety classes to prepare themselves for emergency like this. In the classes they will be taught how to make a flood emergency kits, what and what not to do during a flood, how to turn off electricity and gas and so on. Of course as usual an l flood warning is given out to the people through cell phone message alerts. The time frame of a flood alert is 30 to 60 minutes.
