Flag Burning Persuasive Essay

Flag burning has been a controversy for years, but it has made its way to the front view within the last couple months. Whether burning of the flag should be legal, or if it should have a punishment. Flag burning should be considered a form of treason, and the desecration of the flag should be punished.
The debate in the House on the flag highlighted the great divide in our nation on the Constitution and the very definition of patriotism. They actually separate our freedoms from parasitism and have their own version of patriotism. And they separate our laws from our values.They say the flag symbolizes the freedom to burn it; that our flag is the symbol of unpatriotic conduct. That burning the symbol of patriotism is patriotic.
The exact nature of the First Amendment and what types of speech it protects has been argued ever since the adoption of the Constitution. Perhaps no other section of that great document has exited so much debate. Even today, there is still disagreement. Many people feel it is their right to criticize and challenge authority.
