Flabby: A Short Story

Great Essays
“You have three seconds to make your choice, write or I call your parents!!!” Those words shook me to the core. If my dad got another call for me being a bad student, he might destroy my TV. So there was no other option, I grabbed a marker and started writing on the whiteboard next to this random kid. The day has been already bad in the first three seconds, I cannot imagine how the rest of the day would be like.

My wishes and prayers for Flabby not to arrive at school were quickly destroyed once he opened that door. Now three students were writing for who knows how long at this point. In an instant, I heard a bone snap and realized it was Flabby. His hand was slowly decreasing in power and I could tell. He was sweating like there

“NOW GET OUT OF HERE!!!” He screamed and the three of us ran at the speed of light. I then walked over to Flabby who looked so sick, especially in his hand. “Hey Porky, what a start to the day am I right?” “Indeed, that guy has no taste in comedy. What’s your schedule?” I asked Flabby looking at his. We only had two classes together, first period English and sixth period Social Studies, both with Mr. Jingles. Great, well I suppose this year wouldn’t be so great after all. My second period was PE with Mr. Everett. Overall, it was terrible. I usually enjoy physical education since it’s a break of fun over the jamble of studying. Unlike my previous adventures, we just sat down on the concrete for the entire period waiting for the teacher to take roll. I sat all the ay in the front on number fourteen while all my friends like Mat, Samuel, Jake, Logan, and Oscar were all in the back with numbers ranging in the fifties. I just sat on my number for hours on end, thinking about about life, but even that got me a headache. The sun kept on cooking my skin until it seem I was on fire. My mind being in such a horrible state along with the heat killing me made my second period completely useless and painful. I don’t even think I spoke a single word during the whole class, making me mouth feel just as awful as in the morning, …show more content…
Hanakat, I know what a name for a teacher. I don’t even know how to pronounce it. Taking a long look at the events that happened in the class, I’d say it was an abomination. I already hate math, due to me not understanding it, but now it just got a whole lot worse. The teacher was sleepy for crying out loud once I entered the room. He wasn’t moving too which made me believe he was dead. I sat down on a random chair in the back and as I sat down on the chair, my weight consumed the entire surface area and made a loud noise that almost sounded like fart. The teacher woke up in pure shock and looked around the room, analysing each student to who may have caused such a noise. Sadly, solely on my size, I was his first

Within the last thirty years, the rise obesity has become a major topic of concern in the United States. While many argue that this increase in size is due to disruptions in the “energy balance model,” which states that the obesity is due to a combination of eating too many calories and not exercising enough (Smith & Cummins, 2009), Julie Guthman argues in her book Weighing In that this definition focuses too much on the individual’s actions without looking at the broader health consequences derived from the built environment, agricultural policies, and neoliberal capitalism. However, although Guthman does offer some excellent points, specifically with her political ecology perspective in the alternative food movement, she does little to…

A loud click was heard from the ceiling of a filled classroom, the echo of the microphone from the office announced static-filled speech. “Logan Hatchback to the office please. Logan Hatchback to the office.” Suddenly, a tall behemoth of a man stood from the back of the classroom, his seat singled out of the rows and immaturely drawn on.…

Even as the deadline to get this project done drew ever closer, I still couldn’t even decide on a person to write about much less knowing what I was going to write about said undecided person. Maybe if I had actually enjoyed this project or the class that had resulted in this assignment, then this knowledge of an ever closing in deadline would have given me new found motivation and writing prowess but this was not the case. To tell the truth, the deadline sort of knocked the fight out of me, I just felt resentment towards my teacher and the class and started to form a mentality of “I won’t do this project so I can spite you” towards my teacher. Truth be told this was completely illogical as I didn’t even dislike my teacher, I just had a sense of disdain towards the school as a whole; I was acting as though I could just ignore the assignment and make it go…

Obesity Myth Paul Campos is a lawyer that has gotten sick of the media and the government protesting against people overweight or being obese. Campos wrote a book called “The Obesity Myth: Why American’s Obsession with Weight is Hazardous to your Health”. I walked into the classroom of my last class of the day expecting to just take notes and listen to a lecture. Unfortunately for me, the teacher announced that we were going to write a timed essay based on a chapter of a book we were reading. This task did not seem challenging at first, and the thirty minutes we were given to write our essays seemed like plenty of time. Nonetheless, I still managed to turn what was supposed to…

Around halfway through the year, classes became unbearable with the constant, dehumanizing schoolwork. Every assignment tugged and cracked any remaining portion of uniqueness I had left. I felt that the curriculum was intentionally designed to ready us to be a factory worked with a company ID instead of a name, just like the A.T. PERSONAS forced down our throats. Since he subjected me to infernal besiegement on a daily basis, I thought I should pull a prank on my homeroom officer. Every day he would use his superfluous title as ‘officer’ to subject us to his whims, just to inflate his pompous ego.…
