I became able to use feedback as a way to better advance my skills and thus to acknowledge the potential I obtain to continue to compose and play with reason. For instance, my cousin Abraham who is a film score composer told me that, “It does not matter how good you may be in music because there will always be a six year old who could do it better, that is why one must never stop learning and striving to become better”. This moment also validates that obtaining a fixed mindset will not advance one into a higher essence of being. As a musician with a growth mindset, I have become able to know that there are no boundaries as to what I can perform, and that there is no such claim as too much practice. In contrast, if I still had a fixed mindset I would focus only on appearing as if I can perform and ignoring negative feedback which would cause me to achieve less than my full potential. However, as a result of not becoming intimidated of failure, I have been able to perform in the Beverly Hills Hilton hotel, Loyola university, and LA Philharmonic because I yearn for intellectual growth and accept that failures and struggles are imminent.
