28 August 2014 Fixed mindset or growth mindset?
Many argue that brains are fixed, that everyone has a certain amount of intelligence. This usually is known as a fixed mindset, but today we know the intelligence can be developed .In other words the difference between these to types of mindsets is that a fixed mindset make students think they don’t have to put effort to be smart, and as a growth mindset students know they have to put effort and courage to be smart .¨These different beliefs or mindsets, create different psychological worlds: one in which students are afraid of challenges and devastated by setbacks ,and one in which students relish challenges and are resilient in the face of setbacks¨(Dweck ,2008). Three important factors in the type of mindset a student have are motivation, environment, and praise. …show more content…
