Five Year Plan

My one year and five year post-baccalaureate plan after completing my Health Education degree is going to be filled. I plan on reflecting on the road that I took and the challenges I overcame to achieve this degree. In the first year after completing the program my academic plan, work plan and family plan will be suited to achieve my short term and long term goals. My vision is ambitious and bright, during the first year after graduation I am going to prepare for my CHES certification exam in October, it is important to me that I complete the entry level sub-competencies needed to meet the national standards to be recognized as a health education practioner. During this timeframe I would want to see myself completing at least 1-2 years of health education focused on helping groups of people including individuals, families and communities in my area of Lee county Florida. My professional outcomes that I would want to achieve as a health educator would be to say that I was part of a team that developed multiple educational campaigns and programs to promote heathy habits and environments. I would want to pursue my career as a health educator in a research or administrative role creating or improving health programs. Five Years from now I would hope to have completed my pursuit for the unique opportunity to enter into a physician assistant graduate program and be working as a physician assistant in my community of Ft Myers Florida. Pursuing being a physician assistant will be a full time program and I realize that if I do get in the program I will have to focus and dedicate my time and effort to accomplishing this long term goal of mine. There are two programs in my area so the chances of me getting in are going to be challenging, but I will keep a positive attitude and focus on my goals. After completing and reviewing my 1 and 5 year goals, I have developed my post graduate planning to be realistic and comprehensive. My first goal is to complete this semester and progress to the summer internship. Once the internship is complete I will be recognized as completing my undergraduate degree in Health Education in August of this year. I will be registering for fall classes this summer; I plan on taking one class at the local community college and study for my CHES certification in October. I will be registering for the CHES after I complete this spring semester of 2017. While pursing further education this fall I will begin my job search to be a health educator, my main strategy will involve talking to local human resources and looking online for local job opportunities for an entry level health educator professional. My goal is to work as a health educator by November of this year. I will be applying for undergraduate programs in early 2019. I will work on my GRE studies in 2018 and take it by the end of 2018. My graduate school choices require me to shadow a PA to get experience in the field and I will be pursuing multiple settings to shadow in over 2018 and 2019.
