Five Women Wearing The Same Dress

Before seeing the show, I only had limited information as to what the play Five Women Wearing The Same Dress was about. I knew there was a wedding that took place in the plot somewhere, but I did not know that the entire show took place in a bedroom. I liked the idea of the five bridesmaids using a bedroom as their getaway from the bride and the ceremony, and I liked how the audience never got to be at the actual wedding or meet who the bride was. It was interesting and it created good gossip between the characters which is always amusing. I enjoyed this show because of the content in the script and the acting of specific characters. However, there were a few parts that seemed inconsistent with the characters and overreacted moments that read …show more content…
I thought that these characters stood out to me because they all had genuine moments on stage that made the audience want to know more about who they were. Meredith (Francesca Bucci) seemed almost bipolar, which for me, created mystery as to what was making her so unpredictable. Near the end, however, it is revealed that she was raped. I was trying to figure out what was missing during the show and I believe that that was great for the character interpretation. Trisha kept the audience wondering why she never wanted to be in love and why she always took the guardian route rather than her own. I think the actress (Rachel Porter) portrayed this character very well because she gave off a mom essence which I think is exactly how the character is written. Mindy, the lesbian friend of the bride played by Lydia Schultz played a very simple character, and I absolutely loved her simplicity. She was always in character and she never missed a beat. She was a very believable character and I appreciate the work that she put into being the character that she was. Lastly, I enjoyed the acting of the character Tripp (Tyler Battista) because he performed just like the character Mindy did, very simple. He kept his character calm and collected and I enjoyed watching him open up to himself and the characters around him. The acting in this show was, for the most part, …show more content…
After watching it, I know that the script has depth and the characters are all mysterious and almost crazy. The script helps the audience members find out secrets about each character that draws them into the stories and the characters lives. The actors who portrayed the six characters all had moments that created a believable character for the audience and truthful moments and feelings that the audience could delve into. However, there were also untruthful moments concerning the drinking of alcohol that created a wall between the audience and what was happening on stage. Overall, it was a good production and with a few fixes it could be completely believable from the beginning to the

In the film I believe that only one of the actors/actresses portrayed the characters well in comparison to the book. According to Roger Ebert, "Lili Taylor struggles valiantly with her character, while the rest of the characters are underwritten. " I agree with Ebert, Lili Taylor portrays Eleanor Vance well, I would not have picked Owen Wilson to play Luke Sanderson because I have seen Owen Wilson in too many movies, and I believe that he is a better actor for a comedy than a horror movie. J. Hoberman states that the characters are very simple, except the Professor. I agree with Hoberman because the other characters could have been brought out more.…

On the evening of Saturday October 8th, the cast of the play Fuddy Meers took the stage and put on a unique and exquisite performance. The play took place in the Temple Theatre which I found was a highly interesting venue. There were several different elements that I found greatly intriguing during the course of the ninety minute performance, however, there were a few elements that I felt were also lacking. The first element that I believed helped to add significance to the performance was the stage setup(1). The revolving setup of the stage was perfect for this play and it allowed much versatility for the characters during specific instances.…

The play revolved around a young woman named Mary Girard who is thrown into an insane asylum by her wealthy husband, Stephen Girard. In the insane asylum, she is tormented by figments of her imagination and is told that she is not to leave the insane asylum for as long as she may live. In this particular adaptation, the cast consisted of 6 actors, 1 playing the role of Mary Girard and the other 5 doubling up on characters.…

This play was one of the longest plays I had ever sat in on, but it didn’t feel like it. The characters and the story kept making me want more. It was that good! This play, however, did provide more than just entertainment. It provided a sense of wonder, wonder about the lives of the characters, what they felt, what they thought, and what they did.…

All actors placed themselves into the lives of college students (which shouldn 't have been too hard), and made a believable attempt in how these personalities would mesh in seclusion. Obviously, some characters were good at showing the physical properties of the stage, such as fighting and movement, such as Rutherford (played by Jake…

The girl who played Marilyn is a fantastic actress, but I didn’t like how ditzy her character was; I prefer stronger female leads. Carmichael, in my opinion, was outshone by his fellow cast-mates because he isn’t as funny of a character; his seriousness serves to anchor the show, and he was nevertheless an important character. Both projection and comedic timing were handled perfectly by the cast. Because the actors (with the exception of Carmichael) were students, I don’t think that they necessarily had all of the life experience necessary to truly relate to their characters, but that didn’t take away from their portrayal. Most of the characters were fairly young and the script didn’t focus a lot on life events; instead, it focused on comedy, which the young actors pulled off perfectly.…

In my opinion, the play exceeded my expectations. I did not expect the actors to perform in a way that made me believe his or her conflict. The setting was well thought out and complimented the dialogue in a way that made me pay more attention to the conflict. The painting also added to the setting by focusing on the art aspect of the play. I also enjoyed the humor of the play.…

I don’t really know anything about acting, but I think the actors did a wonderful job with it. They all seemed well rehearsed, but also very relaxed, and they fit their characters well. Onto the technical aspect of the play, I’ll start with the set design. I loved the lunatic asylum scenes with Renfield, and also the graveyard scenes, but the walls on either side of the stage made me feel uneasy. I kept thinking they were going to fall over, or one of the actors would trip as they entered through the doorway, and often I was looking at the set and not the actors.…

Kiss I saw this performance on Friday night, my initial reaction was a lot of confusion. The first act of the play was the story of some friends in Syria with a love affair, at times funny and sometimes awkward. The female lead was in love with her best friend’s boyfriend, who was also her boyfriend’s best friend, and they had wanted to start a relationship of their own. However she was going to be proposed to, this conflict made the story very intriguing because I wanted to see who the girl would chose. She ended up saying yes to her boyfriend, which left the friend confused and distraught.…
