Psychology and Christian faith differ in how they explain the specific aspects of human nature and meaning behaviors. In this paper, the author explains and indicates what the five themes of human nature in the book of Exploring Psychology and Christian Faith and use the Scripture to affirm them. Moes and Tellinghuisen (2014) also state that relationally and psychology that both differ from each other; the Biblical emphasis on the thoughts and behaviors of God toward us but psychologists not; psychology studies on a type of relationally, but the Bible mentioned of relationship to oneself. The Bible supports the relational aspects of humans in Genesis chapter 2. For example, God created Adam and had the first relationship with a human being; He brought living things to Adam that had the first interaction with all creatures; then, God gave Adam a wife. According to the Bible, our physical being is who we are. In Genesis chapter 2:7, God’s Word supports how His breathed life into Adam, and he became the physical being. The Bible also indicated the relationship between physical action and faith in James 2:15-17.
Theme 4: Humans Are Responsible Limited Agents
The authors indicate that we are acting as limited agents in the world and responsible to choose for what should be done. In the biblical view, Jesus calls people to care for people who are needs in Matthew 25:37-40. It implied that the relationship involved in what you chose and done as well as on Jesus.
Theme 5: Humans Are Meaning Seekers
The fifth characteristic of human nature means “seeking to make sense of our surroundings, our experience, and our purpose.”(Moes & Tellinghuisen, 2014) Moes and Tellinghuisen (2014) state that there are three aspects about seeking: first, we can feel and respond what happen in the environment; secondly, we can experience things by meaningful; finally, we are seeking for God.
