When there is a crash these are the steps you should follow and I will go into more detail of the following stop, render aid, clear from traffic, contact police if necessary and exchange infromation. The first thing that you would do after a crash would be to stop and pull out of the way of the flow of traffic get out of the road as to not cause another crash. The first step in the five step process is to, like I said before stop immediately you may be penalized severely for not stopping at the scene of the crash. You may receive a jail sentence of one year and a fine of up to 2,500$ or both. Step 4 is the most important step out of all of them in my opinion, step 4 is when you are in an accident if there is no injuries or deaths and the damage does not exceed 1500$ then it is not necessary to call the police. If there are any injuries or deaths, or the damage exceeds 1500$ then it is the law to call the police. The 5th step is the last and extremely important, once all the steps before this are complete and are the things that need to be taken care of have happened, you need to exchange your insurance card with the other person and they need to do the same this allows the two to pay for any expenses such as, injury, damage and other expenses. There are other things that need to be followed your car registration and insurance card need to be in your car at all times according to the law. Your insurance card must have your full name and address, vehicle registration number, and your insurance agent's name or prividers name and phone number.
