When it comes to ordering goods, there are many ways the good can get to and from its destination. Some of the modes include: air, ground, rail, pipeline, and water. The logistics mode air is being used often when it comes to transporting overseas or across the country. Even though air freight is the fastest of the five modes, it is also the most expensive. There are many supply chain uses, costs, innovations, and future possibilities when it comes to picking the mode air. The mode of transportation, air, has many uses.. One possibility to keep in mind for the future is keeping overflow and costs to a minimum. It is important to not overcrowd warehouses or aircraft carriers with goods that companies will not sell in the future. If there are too many goods, and they go bad or are damaged because of all the clutter, then they will have to be thrown out. By throwing out old or damaged goods, does not help anyone. The money and time spent on that good will be lost. Another possibility to adapt to the future is creating better partnerships with people and be able to forecast more accurately. One group of people that businesses should be strong partners with is their freight forwarders. As stated above, freight forwarders are in charge of making sure that everything is shipped and received in the most efficient and effective manner. Having unfilled orders often can create problems with customers wanting to order those goods. If there are a lot of unfilled orders, then people will not get their goods in time. However, if the forecast is fairly accurate then all the goods should be shipped in a timely matter. Finally, when thinking about the future, try and have the highest customer satisfaction possible. It is important to make sure the customers are happy. This means getting the products shipped in a fairly timely manner and charge them a reasonable rate. The products should not be delivered weeks after orders, unless the customer is notified and is aware of why it will take that long. Also the rates should be not too high or too low. In general, it is better to have a relationship with the customers, having them come back for
