Five Minute Observation

Today I got the chance to observe one kid for a whole 5 minutes in this class. Throughout these 5 minutes I felt that I have learned a lot about the student and the job itself. The student's name is Lucas Lin and he is five years old. I observed that Lucas's interactions are not as strong as other students in the class. Lucas is always moving and has high energy but I found that he struggles to talk to other students because I think he doesn't know how express himself. For example, the student next to him is using a crayon that he wants to use. Lucas started to whine and be upset. I would then ask whats wrong? He wouldn't be able to tell me what went wrong, he would just point to the student next to him and frown then cross his hands. Throughout the …show more content…
He really enjoyed the worksheet they were working on which was about the five senses. This worksheet asked the students to draw a picture under each sense. For example for eyes, the students would draw what do they see around them. Lucas drew a pencils and notebooks. I think Lucas is an extremely smart boy but he just doesn't know how to interact with other students and talk about his …show more content…
I think his behavior is affected by this because he looks disobedient because he keeps distracting other students. This information can be used to develop a better educational plan for this child because we now know he is distractive and by that we can put him by himself for a little bit during the day so he has time to calm down and work by himself. I would also talk to him calmly and tell him he needs to considerate other students and that his behavior can distract
