Leadership: Finding our Niche

Most people think that leadership is something that only those in a supervisory role can do well. However, being a leader is not about a title, it is about the individual putting the needs of others before their own (Linkner, 2014). Are we born with leadership abilities or is this something that we have to learn through experience? While some are born with characteristics of leadership, they still have to develop various skills and abilities to be a successful leader. The leadership role goes beyond the daily activities of assigning duties, tracking data, evaluating performance and directing necessary changes. We need to focus on perusing through the different leadership styles to figure out our location while taking this path. In a book composed by John C. Maxwell on the five levels of leadership, he discloses how to boost our potential (THEISS, C.E., 2012). The five levels that he speaks of are comprised of position, permission, production, people development and pinnacle. Also, each level addresses how every follower feels concerning the stage. As we develop in our leadership capacities the less demanding, it is to lead, and there will be an appreciation from the devotees. The primary position level is the lowest stage of leadership due to being in a supervisor position and is followed because it is a need to case. However, the permission level is built on relationships and will have the accompanying in light of the fact that they need to. The following level is production; this level gets results, and the supporters have paid consideration on what the leader has accomplished for the association. The People development level, also known as the improvement stage, the leader is being regarded for what they have accomplished for the devotee. Additionally, the pinnacle level is the highest, most challenging part of leadership and many do not make it to this level. While remembering the levels of leadership, we now need to understand the moral issues that exists (Palmer, D., 2009). There are three levels of ethical analysis in leadership: that consists of the ethics of leaders, the means of ethical leadership, and the heart of leadership. The initial level talks about the ethics of leaders, requesting that they show good moral behavior in their personal and professional lives by being a decent example for those under them. While this sort of behavior exists in many leaders, however, it is not always the case. Leaders are human; they are inclined to make the same mistakes that any other individual can make. However, this is a decision that every individual leader has to make for themselves in business, as well as, in their own lives. The next level speaks about the means of ethical leadership; it is the method in which a leader exercises their initiative. At this point, leaders are more concerned with the effectiveness of their leadership role and how they can move others to act while changes are being made within the association. The last level is the heart of leadership, and this is the step that starts a mission and offers a dream to accomplish the shared objective. Additionally, it is at this level that the ethics of leadership completes itself, it shows how a balanced leader will be able to recognize and accomplish the purpose of the
