The first item found was a paper picture of black man. It was a black and white photo. It was determined that the man in the photo was Dr. Martin Luther King Junior. He was photographed standing at a podium wearing his Baptist Minister robe with a large American flag flying behind him. His soft round face and perfectly groomed hair and mustache give a feeling of peace and softness. It is a great depiction of who he was and what he represented. The flare was made by cutting a triangle out of the original pants from the outside of the knee down, then extra fabric sewn in. These bell bottoms were a symbol of free spirit during this time. Many people wearing this fashion were called hippies. This fashion statement really started from people protesting the big box stores and getting their clothes from military outlets and thrift stores (Wright, 2014) Big corporate fashion stores would not carry the bell bottom style so many people made their own. They become very popular and were warn into the next generation for fashion not protest. Corporate big box companies eventually caved and bell bottoms were sold all over the country. The people of the 60’s wanted to fight conformity of the previous generation’s fashion styles and fight the big box corporate
