Five Faces Of Injustice

Justice is a term that is widely used in society but not a lot of individuals understand the real meaning of justice. In order to understand justice, we as society need to understand the factors that contribute to injustice to promote justice. An injustice that has been an issue for multiple years is the education children receive from different socio economic status. The injustices individuals endure of having different socio economic status relates one of the five faces of oppression which is marginalization and another term that relates to injustices is white gaze. In order to be just, there has to be fairness when it comes to every factor in the world. When fairness is not included and a more dominant group has power or control, it consequences in an injustice. Marginalization happens when a group of individuals are being deprived due to their ethnicity. This causes minorities to be in a low economic position. According to the article “Five faces of Oppression” by Simone Weil it states “A whole category of people is expelled from participating in social life and potentially subjected to severe material deprivation and even extermination. The material deprivation marginalization often causes is certainly unjust, especially in a society where others have plenty” (Weil, pg., 53). This quote relates to individuals from a low socio economic status because these children are being deprived from receiving a successful education. These children do not receive the appropriate education because these schools in impoverished neighborhoods lack money and materials. This is shows an injustice because all children in America should receive the same education and also resources as children from a higher educational program in order to prevent
