1. A global society is a unified social community that encompasses the world. Global society today is made up of five different aspects: language, diversity of family forms, politics, diversity of race, and technology. Although a society has more aspects than five each of these affect the global society today by the increase interactions socially around the country and world. Each of the aspects is different in their own way but do overlap on various areas. These five aspects show how we have improved in areas of communication and education but there is still room to work on in the future years to accept and adapt to the continuous changes in the world.

The second aspect of global society is the diversity of family forms and the effects it has now. Now more than ever there is a greater number of households that are headed by single adults than there are of married adults. In grade school, most of my friends and I had a nuclear family where we lived with our siblings and our parents were married and co-ran the family. As I began to grow there was an increasing amount of my peers and close friends where their parents divorced and they were living in a single-headed household. My last year of high school my mother was the sole provider and head of the household because my father had passed away. In college, it is almost a norm where the family has split, or parent has remarried and has stepsiblings or half-siblings. Some of the configurations that are raising the statistic that the book state is, “a single parent often a mother raising a child or children in poverty, an increase of teenage pregnancies, a rapid increase in the number of children being raised by grandparents, and two adults of the same sex raising children.” With the growth away from a nuclear family with a mom and dad raising the children I believe more people will stray away from getting married because of the negative statistic of divorce rates, and we will see less of larger family homes with three or more children and more single or two child households. Politics is a huge part of global society today because we the people of this country have a say in what is going on for laws and who we want leading our country and arm forces. Growing up there was more respect for the military, police, president, and leaders of our nation. Although I know there were many issues as a child with political leaders there was still the unification of America because of 9-11. When I began to start understanding what they were saying in politics I began to see a split of the two parties, less interest in voting or caring what happens, and more interactions on an international level. As a college student, there is a huge divide between liberal and conservative parties. So much so to the point that some conservatives will not associate with liberals and vise versa due to their extreme views. “In some ways, this data indicates a decline in the power of the two major political parties in the United States.” I also believe that this is due to not wanting to come together as two separate parties and be open-minded to other ideas. As a result, we are just going backward in history than forward. Another consequence of the division we have is less political participation because of the inability to communicate and come to a mutual agreement. One of the positive outcomes of the political participation is the “multicultural array that reflected a changing nation” when President Obama was elected and the increase of non-white and women representatives in
