The five conflict styles consist of competing, avoiding, accommodating, compromising and collaborating (Griffith & Dunham, 2015). The competing method can help to bring more turmoil into the group while working toward a resolution. If a member feels threatened that others will be perceived in a better light, then their competitiveness may arise and could override the want to work within a group setting. Although, the avoiding conflict style is where most individuals are trying to avoid the conflicts that may arise. However, altogether avoiding the situation will not make it go away and the conflict never gets resolution.
