Passion is a highly important trait for a doctor to have. The road to being a doctor is a harsh and competitive one. Sacrifices and sleepless nights are common for keeping your grades up as a potential doctorate receiver. On top of having the grades to even compete you must complete four years in an undergraduate program, spend four more years in medical school then complete three to seven years of residency training. This type of workload can be heavy and detrimental to those are aren’t passionate enough to go through it all. If a person was capable of getting through the course work of becoming a doctor they still need to endure the work load of being an actual doctor. After finishing school most people are in debt, in the thousands or even hundreds of thousands. Shifts as a doctor are erratic so you can be working overnight for days straight and having days off or weekends off are hard to come by. Depending in what your specialty is or where you’re located in the hospital there will be days in where you lose patients and will have to know on how to deal with that. The patients you lose might not be as bad as the patients who file lawsuits against you. Malpractice is a common issue in the medical field and could lead to a doctor getting their license revoked. These are harsh realities in being a doctor which is why passion is high important to have. An undergrad who’s in the medical field for the wrong reasons such as going after a high salary or just the prestige of having a M.D. would find it extremely difficult to complete the course work. Even if they did complete it they might regret being a doctor because of the heavy workload causing them to become bitter doctors who no longer cares about their practice. No one wants to walk into their doctor’s office and seeing them give a superficial attempt in caring for them. They want to see a doctor who has a
