Fitness Testing Satire

Decent Essays
NOVEMBER, 2016
Fitness testing is something that you either dread or are excited for. I don’t like fitness testing to be honest. And scores are a big part of it. I usually get threes and some fours, but I find the system unfair. If you are putting your effort into the tasks, I think that deserves a four. You shouldn’t be graded on your physical ability, because every body is made different. I’m not very good at the PACER, but I am very good at the sit and reach and for others, it can be the exact opposite.
Those numbers on a scale of one to four can make a person feel down or upset. I think those numbers shouldn’t be how many push ups you did; I think it should reflect how much effort you put into them. The number of whatever does not matter

My first review will be on the hilarious and probably not very medically accurate sitcom Scrubs. The show ran nine glorious seasons (although some may say the last season was vastly sub-par) and survived cancellation at least once. That’s 182 episodes that made us laugh, cry and follow along with the addicting characters marriages, babies and promotions. Besides Grey’s Anatomy this is where I’m sure college students learned their basic medical knowledge. I also assume now whenever I’m in a hospital if every doctor has dated each other at one time or another.…

In my relationships with others the incorporation of some of these results will help me talk to people more in my community, volunteer at some local places in my community, and be outgoing and very vocal about the things I am passionate about. I am not a very talkative and outspoken person so that is something I could improve on and get on there and explore new things. These are all examples from my own life that I need to improve and work on to bring myself of my shelf and comfort zone. Overall, this wellness assessment has been a very eye- opening experience for me that I will forever remember and come back to in my life. Some of the scores surprised me and some of them didn’t shock me at all like my emotional average and my financial average.…

We need change from the middle up and down. There should be investments on things that will help the majority of this country create opportunity. It seems like most everyone would love another reason to feel okay about eating chocolate. As a result, many people have tried to switch over to eating dark chocolate as a way to be healthier. There have been studies done that show dark chocolate is a more mindful alternative than milk chocolate. NPR and BioMed Central have each released articles stating their views on this matter. NPR is a popular reporting business that recently published an article over the effects of dark chocolate products and cocoa on the body— specifically blood pressure.…

Fitness and Goal Setting Knowledge Fitness and goal setting have been the main topic of conversation in this class. Whether we need to work on legs or arms today, or what we are going to do in the future. I learned that it is better to do quantity over quality when it comes to fitness workouts, and that it is always important to stretch and warm up your muscles before a workout to ensure you do not strain any muscles. For goal setting, I learned that if you pick a specific goal that you wish to achieve, like say to reach +10 in the fitness flexibility test, you can keep working towards that goal step by step, or in this case number by number, to reach your goals efficiently. When reaching towards a goal, you cannot just make it in one try…

In the textbook, “Understanding Your Health”, I took a self-assessment that examined my health behavior. I scored a 559 overall, which meant that I had a relatively adequate health behavior. However, I think my score of 559 was on the lower side of the relatively adequate health behavior since the points ranged from 550 to 569. I was actually very close to the low health behavior score, which ranged from 330 to 549, as I was only 10 points away from a low health behavior score. This means that I should be more cautious about my lifestyle and try to make improvements in which I could live a more fulfilling and healthy life.…

For the Nutrition tracker, I decided to use the website My Fitness Pal. I used this site because I have already been using it to track my consumption for the last few weeks as I try to increase my overall health. In my opinion, my diet this week was very disappointing with respect to my diet goals. My diet was severely lacking with respect to its completeness. For the most part I had no real fruits or vegetables, the only consumption of those food groups came as a topping on my burger or other main entrees.…
