5.1 Adenosine Triphosphate System
In touch football there are three systems used throughout the duration of the game these are the ATP system (Adenosine Triphosphate), the Lactic Acid system (anaerobic glycolysis) and the final system the Aerobic system. ATP doesn’t exist in the muscles and tissues waiting to supply abundant amounts of energy (Hede, Russell and Weatherby), ATP is a chain consisting of three phosphate groups. To produce energy the phosphate chain breaks and one phosphate group is broken off to produce this energy needed for movement. In breaking the phosphate chain, energy is used to allow the production of energy as the end product (Personal training direct, 2014). If this is a quote it needs quotation marks

This system involves the partial breakdown of glycose and lactic acid in a chemical reaction known as glycolysis, glycose used for this system comes from either the glycose found in the blood or from the breakdown of glycogen within the muscles this is known as glycogenolysis (Hede, Russell and Weatherby). If this is a quote it needs quotation marks However if the body uses a large amount of the Lactic Acid they feel a burning sensation and a bad taste in their mouths. This system at high intensity lasts from 10-60 seconds, in touch football the Lactic Acid system is used very commonly. A middle player would use it when they are constantly performing at high intensity to quickly ruck the ball or when the middle player is getting targeted at and has to quickly get on side. Considering my fitness test results and my individual performance in Touch the middle I would meet the fitness demands of a middle player. My lactic acid is large?? And can last a large duration of time meaning I can do the requirements for a middle …show more content…
Following this, a fitness test was designed for agility in touch football. This test was effective as it had specific meaning it was specific to one sport which was touch football. This was done in many aspects of the drill, more notably the dump during the middle of the test as this is heavily used throughout a game of Touch. The standards of the test were indicated by using the result of Aaron Saunders as an excellent middle player to determine what is deemed as excellent, good, average, fair and poor. The timeframe in which this test was finished varied between 35-42 seconds this duration is important to consider as it means that this drill used up the ATP-PC system and the anaerobic glycolysis meaning that it had finished prior to the beginning of the Aerobic capacity, according to (Hede, Russell and Weatherby) ‘’The ATP-PC system when used, is undertaken once using agility’’ however with the duration of time used to undergo this test it can be said that indeed the ATP-PC system is still in use after 10 seconds but either the intensity in which the participant is undergoing the test has moderated

Touch Football is a high intensity sport that requires specific energy system and muscular group training. It uses several energy systems that require targeted training. In order to train specific fitness components a training program needs to be developed by increasing intensity, frequency, varying type and time of training. To achieve results, the training program needs to focus on the fitness components you are aiming to train. The components that will be trained and tested throughout this program are acceleration and muscular strength and endurance.…

Anaerobic and aerobic exercise were determined to effectively influence muscle oxygen uptake at the cellular level. Evaluating and measuring the effectiveness of the two types of exercise on oxygen uptake would inform the advantages and disadvantages they have on muscles. Significant amounts of oxygen are consumed by the human muscles when moderate intensity aerobic work is performed. Contradictorily, anaerobic exercise causes the body to break down stored glycogen in muscles for energy. Therefore, oxygen availability, biological factors, and exercise intensity are factors contributing to muscle oxygen uptake.…

The Great Metabolic Race Ben Yu People are constantly going through a wide variety of chemical pathways and reactions to help them maintain consciousness. The pathways and reactions vary depending on one’s physical state and time. The metabolism of an athlete at the start of a race, after five minutes and after forty-five minutes can be observed, as the ratio of lipids and carbohydrates vary depending on the time of the race. Due to the different energy densities and the body’s varying abilities to oxidise glucose, they dominate over each other at different times during the race as they are the most dominant energy source. Energy is also produced for the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), through the catabolism of carbohydrates and…

However, it is suggested that the player should develop a high aerobic system as it can help with processing lactic acid and increases the athletes’ ability to recover quicker when participating in high intensity sessions of sprinting in a game. It’s crucial to view and establish the energy systems that are required in a soccer game in order to train the athlete in the correct way. All three energy systems will most likely be used during a game of soccer by a defender. An example where this can be seen is if the player does a 50m sprint during a soccer match, they can use 50% of the ATP/PC system and 50% of the lactic acid which signifies that energy systems can be used together, it’s…

In these conditions, athletes will often criticise of a burning sensation in their working muscles, a condition that is sometimes accompanied by difficulties with muscle coordination or movement. These symptoms may continue after a high intensity event for as long as 48 hours. These physical consequences are attributable to the hydrogen ion and not the lactic acid itself. For this reason, lactic acid is wrongly regarded as a waste product.…
