On Black Friday, Fitbit will most likely be one of the biggest technology products targeted by consumers. They will soon be knocking each other down, racing to the stores, and waiting in long lines for extreme lengths of time just for the deal. Imagine being one of those consumers who does all of the above and is the next person in the horrendous line to receive their Fitbit at that great deal but is turned down because the retailer just “sold out”. Would you be frustrated? Of course you would be. The solution to this issue is similar to a ‘rain check’ that grocery consumers can receive from the store when it runs out of the item that they guaranteed at the sale price. Those consumers who wanted the Fitbit at the specific price and design can be promised that exact one, only at a later date once they arrive in the store. This placement advantage could offer an even larger craze for the wearable watch. More consumers would be willing to wait for the deal and more Fitbits would be sold in
