Fish nets are being left out in the Australian Ocean creating damage to Australia’s marine life. The majority of fishnets are discarded into the Australia Ocean by fishing boats. The Gulf of Carpentaria is a specific hot spot for the discarded fishing nets. The Carpentaria Ghost Net Program in Northern Australia have removed over 5,500 nets from the Gulf of Carpentaria’s waters. Most of the Northern Australian waters are pretty hard to get to however they’ve mainly removed the fishnets from the coastline due to small parts of the coastline is accessible.
