Fishing is a sport that requires the skills and equipment to do it successfully. One piece of equipment is the reel. The reel is the back bone in any fishing rig. It is the most important part of fishing because without it you could not effectively catch fish. There are many distinct brands out there that offer reels for a fairly good price and are decent reels. Two common names in the reel industry are Abu Garcia and Shakespeare. Abu Garcia produces a low profile baitcaster, the Black Max, while Shakespeare offers the Alpha. Shakespeare offers a magnetic brake on its Alpha, although this brake is made cheaper and not a good as others. The magnetic brake is an essential part of every reel, as it prevents the angler from backlashing the line and is the limiting factor in casting smoothness. The Black Max’s brake has a higher rated dial on its reel than others. This means it will allow more control of the cast as well as a smoother cast. This more efficient brake lets the Black Max have an exceptional smooth cast, as well as no backlashing. The equipment includes, but is not limited to, fishing reels. These reels can vary in types and quality of service in which they can provide. Fishing reels can be determined if they are quality or not in several various categories. The categories are reel-in qualities, casting smoothness, and overall dependability. The two reels described here were the Abu Garcia Black Max and the Shakespeare Alpha. Shakespeare provides a good reel but Abu Garcia’s cherished Black Max surpasses the Alpha in every category. The Black Max offers stronger materials and better options for the reel, than the Alpha, making it great on the reel-in, smooth on the cast, and an overall dependable

But if you use braid, make sure you use a 3 or 4 foot mono or flourocarbon leader of at least 40 pound test. When you get a fish near the boat and you have to grab something, grab the leader, not the line. Bowfishing differs from bow hunting on land in a number of ways, which explains the need for specialized equipment – not least of which is the retriever reel, a spool of tough fishing line that is used to connect the arrow to a float. These lines may be immensely tough – for example, those used in hunting alligators may have a weight rating of six-hundred forty pounds or more. Heavier types are also used for alligator gars, whose sharp-edged, armored scales will slice through thinner lines and cause you to lose both your arrow and your fish.…
