Fishing is a great hobby, for beginners and experts alike. Anyone can fish, if you know how to do the basics. There is much more to fishing than just casting, you have to know which baits work, which fish are where, and have a lot of patience. Patience is key, you will not always get a catch every cast. First, you must get the proper equipment. The most important piece of equipment will be the fishing rod. The rod you are getting will depend on the place you are fishing. If you are going to be fishing in the ocean, you will need a bigger rod than if you were fishing in a lake or pond. You also don’t need to go overkill and get a deep sea rod, unless you own a boat. You will also need to get line, which usually comes with your rod. You will also need some hooks and lures. These will also vary depending on what you are planning to catch. You won’t catch a striper with a squid jig. You will also need spare swivels and other assorted parts, in case the line snaps. A swivel is the clip that you attach to a line to allow you to switch hoods without tying any knots. More experienced fishermen will need a scale to measure your fish, because there are laws on how big of fish that you can take home. You may also need a knife to scale the fish if you are going to eat it. That is the basic equipment you will need for a casual day of fishing. …show more content…

You can always ask the people running the store, because they are usually experienced fishermen. You may also decide to use a lure. Lures are a type of hook that either look like the food of the fish you want to catch, or grabs the fish’s attention because it is shiny. Lures are used slightly differently, and after casting it, you slowly reel it in, so it moves and grabs the fishes’
