Chapter 1 The chapter started with one vessel named Claire (main character) describing how they put a blindfold on her during the procedure. While the procedure was being done she remembered how she end up being a vessel and what are some of her experiences at the start of her being a vessel, she also remembered how one of the other vessel described the discomfort (pain) that she felt during the procedure. As the chapter ends Claire described the pain that she is feeling before she gave herself up to the darkness.
Chapter 2

On her first night at the fish hatchery she thought that she is now more free than she is before as birth mother and she had planned that on one of her recreational time she would find the girl named Sophia who has the same birth year as hers and was assigned as a nurturer. Claire tried her best to fit in with the others she joined the other workers during lunch by the river and one time while having a lunch by the river they saw a supply boat and wondered what it would be like to work in the supply boat and see other places. She’s yearning for her son but she one time at dinner she ask her co-workers if they had ever experienced the feeling of yearning to their younger siblings but none of them did because everyone in the community feels contented of what they have. Every night Claire would dream about number 36, that he was with her in the hatchery and no one knew about it because Claire would hide him in the drawer and would just open it from time to time. Claire knows that secrecy is not allowed in their community that’s why she would wake up with the feeling of guilt and dread but there is still a feeling of excitement every time she opens the drawer in her room and she would hope that number 36 would still be there and would be smiling to her. Everyday she would the yearning for her child and desperately want to fill that emptiness that she is feeling. It was already mid-November and she was busy at her work but she finally found the time to go to the nurturing center
