As with shore diving, we are mainly drift diving from the boat. We typically get one dive per drift due to the small size of each site. One "cycle", from water entry to drifting, diving, shooting, and landing a fish, re-entering the boat and resetting up current, takes about 10 minutes.…

Did Salmon Rule? Enquiring when intensive storage and sedentism began on the Northwest Coast Introduction Background Namu, located in the traditional territory of the Heiltsuk Nation on the central coast of British Columbia is an archaeological obscurity, as no one can be sure of the actual time frame of intensive storage and sedimentation occurrences. On the Northwest Coast "salmon remains, the representation of cranial elements versus vertebrae, mass capture technology and storage structures are being debated as evidence for large-scale salmon storage" (Cannon and Yang, 2006). The use of this knowledge is to acquire sustainable information of when the sedentism and storage actually began.…

If you are in search of walleyes, you stand a better chance of success if you fish along the shore in sandy areas, but this is not always the case. Small trout and other species of fish can also be caught along the shore, but they are not prize winning fish. Going out on lakes and rivers in a boat, has been a popular way to fish for many years.…

For three days in a row, the professor assigns the students the same assignment and as the days progress, the students find new results. The first day the students notice basic physical characteristics about the fish, like its size and the color of the plate it rests on. The second day the students use a book to find out about the type of fish it is, and the third day they dig deeper and observe minuscule details; like its weight, position of the mouth and texture.…
